Wow! This is one of those books that everyone should read: a Peace Corp volunteer tells the story of an amazing story of a woman with a sixth grade education and a few months of midwifery training who is the sole source of health care for several villages. Highly recommended.

Trip to Mali and Clinique Monique News
John and I had a wonderful trip back to Mali last month. We spent the entire trip with Monique's kids, stayed with Monique's parents and siblings in Koutiala, visited the birthing house of Nampossela, and spent a day with Maxim at Clinique Monique. We brought medical and dental equipment with us, and had the pleasure of seeing just what a difference the $25,000 of donations have made. We also met the other children that we're helping to support in school. Families here in the U.S. are truly helping families in Mali to achieve their dreams. Our friends in Mali have the drive, the desire, the determination; they just lack the resources. Thank you, thank you for your support of these marvelous people.We're hoping to raise another $25,000 this year. Since my last email to you in August, we've sold the Chinese rights to Monique and sometime this year the translation will be published.
