The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon

Verdict: really weird and really good. I usually dislike it when I notice the writing (even if I am noticing that it is good) but--wow--Chabon is something else. Amazingly creative metaphors and similies. Recommended.

I'm reading this now. At first it was hard for me to get into it and get over the stylistic language choices, but now I'm really enjoying it. I love his other books and got a chance to go hear him speak about writing this book in NY a few months ago. He is wonderful.

ps. It was really nice to see you last week. (Even though it was a stressful week for me, so I apologize if I probably seemed a little bit out of it).

ack. reread that and that was a poor choice of words. I want to clarify - it was an external stress week for me with moving and all, so I wanted to apologize if I seemed distracted when I saw you. Of course, I know it was a terribly stressful week for all with Christmas and grieving etc.
