Product Details

I loved this book.  Completely engaging, highly suspenseful, and a unique premise.

Monday Mornings by Sanjay Gupta

This is probably the worst book I have ever read.

(Why did I finish it?  For the same reason that you can't look away from a train wreck.)

Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter

Pretty good.

(And:  the best book cover ever.  So pretty.)

The Third Chimpanzee by Jared Diamond

I can't even tell you how much I loved this book.

Travels with Epicurus by Daniel Klein

I'm torn between telling you that this was a lovely meditation on aging that grapples with the modern application of the wisdom of the ancients . . . or telling you that this was a shallow, fluffy book for people who want to feel like they are engaging with big ideas but really aren't.

61 Hours by Lee Child

If you are in the mood for a thriller, this is nearly perfect.

Out of Nowhere by Maria Padian

I think the best young adult fiction blends "Big Issues in the World" with "Big Issues in YA Lives".  This book did that nearly perfectly.

How Children Succeed by Paul Tough

I felt like I had heard a lot of the component parts of this before, but it was still quite interesting and a good corrective to the flashcard-obsessed parenting approach.

The Universe Within by Neil Shubin

This was OK, but it didn't hold a candle to Your Inner Fish.

A Cold and Lonely Place by Sara J. Henry

Started a little slowly, not the-best-book-ever, but a decent, solid read.

Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick

This was good, but not nearly as charming as Hugo.
