Overdrawn by N. J. Crosskey

I really enjoyed this right up until the end of the book . . . which didn't quite work for me.

The Warehouse by Rob Hart

The Warehouse: A Novel by [Hart, Rob]

A super-fun thriller that doubles as social commentary. Recommended.

Empty Hearts by Juli Zeh

Empty Hearts: A Novel by [Zeh, Juli]

I'm not clear why everyone is raving about this--I thought it was quite dull.

Dahlia Black: A Novel by [Thomas, Keith]

Ah, I loved this. I thought it was incredibly well done and very entertaining.

The Perfect Wife by JP Delaney

The Perfect Wife: A Novel by [Delaney, JP]

This is one of the best books I have ever read, and it makes me sad that it will probably be marketed and received as an "airport paperback, beach read, psychological thriller" kind of book when it is so much more than that.

Lost You by Haylen Beck

Lost You: A Novel by [Beck, Haylen]

So . . . not exactly great literature, but I still really enjoyed it.

Keeping Lucy by T. Greenwood

Keeping Lucy by [Greenwood, T.]

So the character development, especially of the children, was weak in places, but overall a decent read.

The New Negro by Jeffrey C. Stewart

This was good, but if had been half as long, it would have been twice as good.

The Other Mrs. Miller by Allison Dickson

Several major plot holes and problems with characterization. I only finished it because it was so bizarre.

The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead

I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this. I love The Underground Railroad, and I didn't love this. So in a sense it was disappointing. But in another sense, he did something very clever with this. But in another sense, it was redundant.

Underland by Robert MacFarlane

Underland: A Deep Time Journey

Interesting and well written.

The Chain by Adrian McKinty

The Chain by [McKinty, Adrian]

This is one of those books that you totally devour and feel guilty about enjoying so much.

The Need by Helen Phillips

The Need by [Phillips, Helen]

I thought this was very solid--good characters, unpredictable plot.

The Invention of Murder by Judith Flanders

This was fun.

The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo

So I normally detest the "four siblings with secrets" genre, but this was immaculately well-written. The end was a bit of a disappointment, however.

The Husband Hunters by Anne de Courcy

meh. (Also: how sexist is that title, given that it was the husbands hunting $$$?)
