Surprisingly good.

The New Negro by Jeffrey C. Stewart

This was good, but if had been half as long, it would have been twice as good.

The Other Mrs. Miller by Allison Dickson

Several major plot holes and problems with characterization. I only finished it because it was so bizarre.

The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead

I'm still trying to decide how I feel about this. I love The Underground Railroad, and I didn't love this. So in a sense it was disappointing. But in another sense, he did something very clever with this. But in another sense, it was redundant.

Underland by Robert MacFarlane

Underland: A Deep Time Journey

Interesting and well written.

The Chain by Adrian McKinty

The Chain by [McKinty, Adrian]

This is one of those books that you totally devour and feel guilty about enjoying so much.

This was fun.

The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo

So I normally detest the "four siblings with secrets" genre, but this was immaculately well-written. The end was a bit of a disappointment, however.

The Husband Hunters by Anne de Courcy

meh. (Also: how sexist is that title, given that it was the husbands hunting $$$?)

The Mummy Bloggers by Holly Wainwright

I thought this was super-fun. There is a lot of subtle humor here and great cultural critique.

They Were Her Property by Stephanie Jones-Rogers

They Were Her Property: White Women as Slave Owners in the American South

Fascinating (and horrifying).

The British Are Coming by Rick Atkinson

Some interesting stories, but waaaay too long.

The Rosie Result by Graeme Simsion

The Rosie Result (Don Tillman Book 3) by [Simsion, Graeme]

I adored The Rosie Project. This had some great moments, but overall was too formulaic.

A Stroke of Bad Luck by Diane Janes

A Stroke of Bad Luck by [Janes, Diane]

Amazingly good. I won't ruin it by giving too much away, but this was excellent.

Vessel by Lisa A. Nichols

Solid--just a few points where a good editor could have made it much stronger.
