Gilded: How Newport Became America's Richest Resort by Deborah Davis

Gilded: How Newport Became America's Richest Resort Disappointing: I wish it had focused more on the cottages in their heyday and less on gossipy personalities.

The President Is a Sick Man by Matthew Algeo

The President Is a Sick Man: Wherein the Supposedly Virtuous Grover Cleveland Survives a Secret Surgery at Sea and Vilifies the Courageous Newspaperman Who Dared Expose the Truth I imagine a lot of readers will feel put out by what seems like a short tale padded with irrelevant filler, but I found the digressions charming. This is a great slice of history; recommended.

The publisher provided me with a digital review copy of this book.

The New Yorker Have I mentioned how much I love reading The New Yorker on my Kindle? Because I look forward to 8pm Sunday night, when it automatically arrives, with an unreasonable amount of glee.
