People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks
Holy cow. This is one of the very best books that I have ever read. I don't want to say anything about the story because I don't want to give it away. But it has been years since I've liked a novel this much. Highly recommended.
Did you see the story in the New Yorker a month or so ago about the real story behind saving the Sarajevo Haggadah during WWII?
And I was wondering: how do you keep on top of recent releases? It seems like you read them so soon after their publications. Do you have any particular sources for hearing about books early on?
Hi Julie, I've been a lurker for awhile. I was able to get this book pretty quickly from the library after I read your review. I loved it! Thanks so much. Tricia http://libraryqueue.blogspot.com
P.S. I also loved your most recent post over at T&S about Sister Beck's talk.

I missed that which is weird because I subscribe to the New Yorker.
ReplyDeleteI spend a fair amount of time (ahem) browsing on Amazon, especially their new releases and bestsellers section.
